Orchid Beach Club unit sold for record $4.35 million

Sylvia Babineau, broker-owner of My Realty Company in Sarasota, sold her own residence in the Orchid Beach Club for $4.35 million. With her latest sale, the record-high sales price for one of the club’s units, she has now sold 48 of the 54 residences at the complex, located in Lido Key.

The 4,229 square-foot unit features three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. Located at 2050 Benjamin Franklin Dr., the unit includes a fireplace, outdoor kitchen and a southwestern exposure with a gulf view. The unit originally sold for $2.52 million in 2005.

The Orchid Beach Club, built in 2005, includes a workout room, game room and dinning hall. Residents also have access to a private garage and concierge service.

Babineau said she had an offer for her unit around a year ago but wasn’t ready to sell at the time. In the subsequent months she received several more offers and realized it was a good time to put it on the market. She listed her unit in February and had secured a buyer two months later.

She won’t have far to travel to her new home. Babineau said she liked the Orchid Beach Club so much she bought another unit in the same complex.
