The Longboat Observer welcomes Mallory Gnaegy this week to our staff as community editor. Make sure to say “hello” when you see her around town!

Gnaegy is born-and-reared St. Louis girl and a recent graduate from the University of Missouri with dual degrees in journalism and English.

In college she was involved with Alpha Phi sorority and was the music editor at Vox, a city magazine. She taught a Sunday school acting troupe, called “Acting Up,” and also played on a softball team in her free time.
But if there is anything you should know about her, it is that music keeps her heart beating. Singing is her forte, but thanks to both of her music-teaching grandmothers, she has dabbled in many instruments. She loves attending concerts and shows and is excited because she has heard Sarasota has some spectacular choral and music ensembles.

Gnaegy is also excited to be so close to baseball spring-training spots — she is a die-hard Cardinals fan. She is looking forward to exploring Longboat Key and meeting as many readers as possible.
