Next chapter: Bankruptcy court

→ Judge K. Rodney May will hear from parties in the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort this week in a Tampa courtroom.

On Wednesday, May 2, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May will hear arguments from the Partnership that ran the Colony — i.e., Dr. Murray “Murf” Klauber and other entities — and the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort Association in a Tampa courtroom in the Association’s appeal of U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday’s October rulings that favored the Partnership.

It’s unlikely that May will rule at Wednesday’s hearings.

Travel Log: Finding Florida

→ East County residents Ray and Pat Ciemniecki recently completed their journey to all of Florida's 162 state parks.

As Ray and Pat Ciemniecki sit on their back porch, light shimmers off the waters of the Braden River.

This view, they admit, is hard to beat.

But, after visiting all of Florida’s 162 state parks, there’s been some tough competition.

“We’ve been from Pensacola all the way to (Fort) Zachary Taylor (Historic State Park) in Key West and everything in between,” Pat says.

Consultant receptive to DAS network

→ TE Connectivity Networks Inc. consultant Scott Wierson told the P&Z Board that he believes DAS 'would provide better service' to the town than a cell-phone tower.

The Longboat Key Planning & Zoning Board dialed TE Connectivity Networks Inc. consultant Scott Wierson at its May 1 meeting by conference call — not cell phone.
