Obituary: Robert L. White

Robert L. White, of Longboat Key and St. Louis, died April 4, his birthday. He was 88.

Mr. White was born April 4, 1924, in Decatur, Ill., and grew up in Champaign, Ill. Following his service in World War II, he attended the University of Illinois. He was a regional sales manager for the William Carter Co. and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. He could answer any baseball question.

Mr. White was preceded in death by first wife, Peggy, and son, Peter J. White.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marilyn Reich White; brother, David N. White; daughter, Barbara; stepsons Tim Reich, Tom Reich and Dave Reich; stepdaughters Cathy Reidel and Carol Bogosian; two grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to: Heart Failure Center, c/o Michael Blanchette, Sarasota Memorial Hospital, 1700 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Fla., 34339; or to the Children’s Foundation of Mid-America, Farmington Children’s Home, 1220 N. Lindbergh, St. Louis, Mo., 63132.
