Obituary: Rae Ferguson Reasoner

Rae Ferguson Reasoner, 81, of Bradenton, and formerly of Longboat Key, died July 22.

Born Oct. 6, 1931, in Winnetka, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Ferguson and Allis Ferguson Colvin. She moved in 1938 to Longboat Key and attended the old school in the Longbeach Village.

She graduated from Rosemary Hall, in Greenwich, Conn., as president of her senior class, and went on to attend Connecticut College, where she majored in botany.

Mrs. Reasoner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton, Selby Gardens, the Bradenton Country Club and the Tropical Flowering Tree Society. She was a former board member of the Junior Science Museum, the South Florida Museum, Manatee County Agriculture Museum, a life member of Entre Nous and a sustaining member of the Service Club of Manatee County. 

Mrs. Reasoner was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Egbert Samuel “Bud” Reasoner.

She is survived by her sons Samuel Anderson “Andy” Reasoner and Alan Ward Reasoner, both of Bradenton; daughter, Elizabeth Rae Reasoner, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Arthur Ferguson, and sister, Allis Ferguson Edelman, both of Sarasota; and six grandchildren.
