Obituary: Margaret Anne Wierts-Parrinello

Margaret Anne Wierts-Parrinello, 91, of Longboat Key, died March 25.

Mrs. Wierts-Parrinello served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. She was stationed in the South Pacific and worked under Gen. Douglas MacArthur. She later served as president of the Southeast Florida Chapter of the Women’s Veterans Association.

In 1966, she became the first employee at Plymouth Harbor, where she served as an executive secretary for more than 21 years.

An organist, Mrs. Wierts-Parrinello played for many years for the First Congregational Church in Sarasota.
Mrs. Wierts-Parrinello was preceded in death by her husbands, C. William Wierts and James Parrinello; daughter, Deborah Wierts; son, William Wierts; and brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Robert and Tom Bott.

She is survived by her daughter, Hazel Wyatt; son, Paul Wierts; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A service was held Friday, March 29, at Toale Brothers Chapel.
