H. Kermit “Kit” Green Jr., 78, of Longboat Key and Point Pleasant, N.J., died April 20.

Born in Newark, N.J., Mr. Green graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., where he was class president. He was especially proud that three generations of his family attended the college.

From 1955 to 1957, Mr. Green served as a specialist in the U.S. Army. He later spent much of his career self-employed as a successful manufacturer’s representative for companies in the tabletop industry.

A member of the Saalam Shrine in Livingston, N.J., he volunteered as a “shepherd” in his retirement, making more than 100 trips driving children to receive medical treatment.

Mr. Green was an avid cyclist, known to make daily rides on either the Jersey Shore or the Sun Coast.

Mr. Green is survived by Robin, his wife of 51 years; brother, Frederick; sons, David and Joshua; daughter, Susan; and four grandchildren.

A service was held Sunday, April 28, in Summit, N.J. Memorial donations may be made to either the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center, f4mmc.org, or the Green Family Scholarship Fund at Lafayette College, Quad Road, Easton, Pa., 18042.
