Obituary: Grace Douglass Marlow

Grace Douglass Marlow, 90, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key, died Aug. 12.

Born Nov. 22, 1922, in Newton, Mass., she was the daughter of Paul and Florence Douglass. She grew up in Ridgewood, N.J., and graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1941. She married Alfred S. Marlow in 1942 in Ridgewood, where they lived until they moved in 1968 to Longboat Key.

Mrs. Marlow was an active resident of Sunnyside Village since 2005; she served as a volunteer for the Jesters and was involved with the bell choir, the Sunnyside Yacht Club and the gift shop. Until several years ago, she organized multi-year reunions for RHS graduates, including picnics for hundreds of graduates, at Siesta Key Beach.

Mrs. Marlow was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Alfred.

She is survived by her daughters, Anne Marlow Vose, of Edgartown, Mass., Jean Marlow Dillon, of Wendell, N.C., and Nancy Marlow Drago, of Clinton Corners, N.Y.; her son, Douglass Lee Marlow, of Falmouth, Mass.; three step-children, 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral took place Aug. 18. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sunnyside Foundation, 5201 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota, Fla., 34232.
