OBITUARY: Elizabeth 'Beth' Wipperfurth Aeling

Elizabeth “Beth Wipperfurth Aeling, 56, of Spring Lake, Mich., and formerly of Longboat Key, died Tuesday, April 6.

Born Sept. 16, 1953, in Grand Haven, Mich., she graduated from Spring Lake High School and attended Southern Colorado State College.

In 1991, she married Michael Aeling in a wedding officiated by the late Rev. Jim Marsh, of Longboat Island Chapel. The couple traveled the world together while working for the golf-course design company Dye Designs before returning to Spring Lake in 1997.

Mrs. Aeling loved kayaking, sailing, skiing, golfing, cycling and walking beaches throughout the world. She also enjoyed her job at Ship & Shop in Spring Lake.

Mrs. Aeling is survived by her husband, Michael; parents Bill and Diana Wipperfurth, of Spring Lake and Longboat Key; grandmother, Betty Horton, of Conneaut, Ohio; sisters Karen Dickey, of Kentwood, Mich., Amey Horning, of Grand Haven, and Diana Bench, of Spring Lake; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A funeral service took place April 12 at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake. Memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Aeling’s name to the University of Michigan Transplant Center, michigantransplant.org, or Longboat Island Chapel Garden Fund, islandchapel.com.
