Obituary: Edward A. Mulhare

Edward A. Mulhare, of Longboat Key and formerly of River Edge, N.J., died Feb. 24. He was 85.

He was born in 1926, in Kingston, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had also served in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Mulhare earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He enjoyed a successful career as an investment professional, having served as a vice president of Prudential Financial; as an executive vice president of Republic Bank; and as the founding chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch Interfunding. He also served on the board of directors of several privately held companies.

He was preceded in death by his eldest son, USAF Maj. Ross Mulhare.

Mr. Mulhare is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen Kinross Mulhare; sister, Mary Lockwood; sons Keith and Drew; daughter, Lisa Sanderson; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A reception will be held at Beaugard’s Funeral Home in River Edge, N.J. Donations may be made in memory of Edward Mulhare to the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org.
