OBITUARY: Claude 'Cec' Boles

Claude “Cec” Boles, 82, of Longboat Key and Northbrook, Ill., died April 2.

Born Sept. 1, 1928, he graduated from the Onarga Military School in Onarga, Ill., and DePauw University, in Greencastle, Ind., and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He worked with his father and brother at The Boles Co. for more than 50 years and served as president for 25 years. He was also an inventor who held a U.S. patent.

Mr. Boles loved skiing, curling and boating. He curled for 28 years with both the Skokie Curling Club and Chicago Curling Club, of which he served as president in 1981. He was a member of the Chicago Yacht Club and Bird Key Yacht Club. He was a Harbour Villa Club resident.

Mr. Boles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn; daughter, Claudia Boles Myers, of Greenwood Village, Colo.; son, Lester, of Verona, Wis.; brother, Robert; and four granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Claude and Marilyn Boles Foundation Inc., which provides support for students with dyslexia, at 2237 Royal Ridge Drive, Northbrook, Ill. 60062, or to the charity of your choice.
