Alfred Ginewsky, 95, of Sarasota and formerly of Longboat Key, died Dec. 10.

Born Nov. 17, 1915, he was originally from Hartford, Conn. He spent much of his professional career as a restaurateur and partner in the historic Avon Old Farms Inn in Avon, Conn., a career that suited him well because he loved hosting evenings of dining and wining with friends. Mr. Ginewsky was a proficient golf and tennis player at the Longboat Key Club and Resort, boat enthusiast, stone and silver sculptor and humorist par excellence.

Mr. Ginewsky is survived by his partner of 20 years, Miriam “Mimi” Edlin; son, Jay Ginewsky; daughter, Karen Ludgin; stepdaughter, Suzanne Young; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and extended family members Jamie Edlin-Schnieder, Laura Wendel and Mari Edlin, who referred to him as their “faux pas.”

A service of remembrance will be held at a later date.
