Anna Maria resident Myra Holmes recently published her novel, “A Love Worth Waiting For,” which tells the story of Sister Mary Ann, who struggles to determine whether her passion for God’s work is stronger than the love she feels for Ward Pendleton, a photojournalist and winter Longboat Key resident.

The novel is fictional but was inspired by the true-life murder of two nuns and attack of a third nun and bishop in 1990 in Nicaragua.

The book refers to many Longboat Key locations, including Euphemia Haye’s Haye Loft and Beer Can Island. And St. Jude’s Church sounds a lot like St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church.
