Lakewood Ranch High student earns West Point scholarship

Tyler Abbott, a senior at Lakewood Ranch High School, received a scholarship valued at $450,000 to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The scholarship funds one year of preparatory school and Abbott’s education at West Point, from which he will graduate in 2020. When he graduates, he will become an officer in the U.S. Army.

The nationwide program accepts 35 students annually, out of more than 1,000.

YO! Sushi opens second U.S. location

International Japanese restaurant brand YO Sushi! opened its second location in the United States May 1, in the The Mall at University Town Center.

The brand currently operates 86 sushi establishments worldwide.

The food will be served in keeping with YO Sushi!'s signature style — via a 250-foot-long conveyor belt that continuously circles the restaurant, offering freshly prepared sushi and a variety of Japanese classics. Dishes, which are color/price coded, typically cost from $3 to $6 with some $7 premium plate options available.

The Mall at UTC location will occupy a space of approximately 1,700 square feet space at the mall’s entrance.
