+ Cellular tower materials submitted to PZ&B
Jim Eatrides, of the Longboat Key-based Alpha Omega Communications LLC, and Kevin Barile, of Ridan Industries II in Tampa, have submitted revisions to their application for a 150-foot cellular tower to the Planning Zoning & Building Department. Town staff is currently reviewing the materials to determine if the application is complete. Eatrides and Barile agreed to submit additional materials at a November Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting in response to an administrative appeal that challenged town staff’s previous determination that the application was complete.

+ Town’s early voting begins Saturday
Early voting for the town’s General Municipal Election begins Saturday and will continue for one week, through Friday, March 16. Voting hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bring a picture ID with a signature. + Anonymous donor helps a good claws
An anonymous donor has provided funding for Mote Marine Laboratory’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program to pay for sea-turtle patrol materials such as T-shirts, training materials and other supplies. Previously, because of budget cuts, volunteers had been asked to pay a small fee to offset the costs. Mote President and CEO Dr. Kumar Mahadevan wrote in a letter to volunteers that because of the donation, turtle-patrol volunteers will not be charged for participation and that Mote hopes to publicly thank the donor at the April 7 Sea Turtle Run on Siesta Beach.

The Code Enforcement Board meeting scheduled for Monday, March 12, has been canceled because no cases were scheduled to be heard. The next meeting will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.
