+ Seats available on town retirement system boards
The terms of three town retirement-system board members will expire Sept. 30. Terms set to expire are Seat 2 of the Firefighters Pension Board, held by Shannon Gault; Seat 2 of the General Employees Fund, which is currently vacant because of the resignation of Patrick Mellet; and Seat 1 of the Police Officers Pension Board, currently held by Michael Seamon, who will not seek reappointment. The town could hold a meet-and-greet for potential candidates in September. The selection and appointment of applicants will be discussed at the Oct. 3 regular meeting.

+ Commission to discuss Comp. Plan amendments
The Longboat Key Town Commission will discuss Comprehensive Plan amendments at noon Wednesday, Aug. 10, at a special meeting. Comprehensive Plan amendments for Bayfront Park that residents have helped craft in public meetings will allow the town to make changes and renovations to the park.

The town is working on submitting both Bayfront Park amendments and amendments that affect the Longboat Key Club Islandside project approval to the Longboat Key Town Commission before they are sent to Tallahassee for state approval.
