New College ranked No. 2 best value college in U.S.

The Princeton Review and USA Today recently ranked New College of Florida the No. 2 “Best Value Public College in America” for 2011.

This is the third time New College has been among the top three public schools. In 2009 and 2010, New College was ranked the No. 3 best value public college. This year, the only other state university on the list is the University of Florida, ranked at No. 3.

With a student population just more than 800, New College emphasizes individualized learning for academically talented students from Florida, throughout the United States and about 25 foreign countries. U.S. News and World Report, Forbes.com, Kiplinger’s Personal and other media outlets have consistently ranked New College among the top liberal arts colleges in the nation for academics and value.

The Princeton Review chose the schools as best value colleges based on academics, cost of attendance and financial aid. More than 30 factors were examined, using data from the company’s surveys of administrators and students at 650 colleges with strong academic programs.

New College’s in-state tuition and fees for the 2010-2011 academic year is $5,347. According to The College Board, average in-state tuition and fees at four-year public colleges is $7,605.
