Realtor Cindi Jackson loves helping people find their dream home.

But she also loves the connection she’s developed with other women Realtors through the Women’s Council of Realtors.

“We all have this bond that we are working together,” Jackson says, noting some Realtors displaced by Hurricane Katrina took great care to bring their Women’s Council roster when fleeing their homes. The women, she said, knew they would have an automatic network of support for reestablishing their lives.

Jackson recently was elected the 2010 president-elect of the Women’s Council of Realtors — Sarasota Chapter.

“I love people, and I enjoy helping people find their dream home,” says Jackson, a Realtor with EXIT Realty Signature Properties. “(Real estate) has been an interesting career. I love working.”

Jackson became acquainted with the Council of Women’s Realtors about five years ago after plugging into some of the organization’s educational programming. She quickly stepped into her first leadership role in 2005 and has stayed in one ever since, even taking on a state level position.

As the new leader of the Sarasota Chapter, Jackson says she’d like to see more Realtors join the organization, which provides training and other tools to help Realtors succeed.

Jackson also said she’d like to see her chapter set up a scholarship for members who are facing costly health challenges or other trials.

“I think charity begins at home and that’s what we need to do more of,” she says.

Staying true to her word, Jackson is involved in charity through the Council of Women’s Realtors as well as the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club, among other organizations.

And when she’s not busy selling homes or volunteering, she loves to go bowling. In fact, Jackson plays once a week on a private league.

“I don’t consider myself a good bowler, but I show up and have a good time,” she says.
Jackson says she’s even played in local and state tournaments.

FAST FACTS

SPLISH SPLASH
“I love Sarasota because I love to go to the beach and boating,” she says. “Anything on the water.”

FREQUENT FLYER
Jackson loves to travel. Some of her favorite places have been metropolitan areas such as Atlanta and San Francisco.

“Anywhere there’s a lot of activity,” she says.

Jackson says she may have gotten her love for traveling from her childhood years, when she lived in Turkey. Her father was an air traffic controller for the U.S. Air Force.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Jackson’s favorite movie has always been “The Wizard of Oz.”

“There is no place like home,” Jackson says. “Home is a safe haven.”

The book is good, she says, but different from the film and much more political.
