Myakka man killed by lightning

Lightning struck three workers at Falkner Farms Monday evening, killing one and injuring the others.

The lightning killed 47-year-old Fleuridor Kercizan on scene, while the other workers, Daniel Roland and Ricardo Garcia, were transported to the hospital, treated and released.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Bristow said one man was getting out of a truck, while the other two were loading items in back.

“It’s terrible,” he said. “The storms were moving toward the middle part of the state yesterday. They just got caught in one of those storms that come so fast.”

Falker Farms is located at 35100 State Road 64 E., Myakka.
