Mustangs coordinator named new head coach

Former Lakewood Ranch High offensive coordinator Mick Koczersut was officially named the Mustangs new head coach July 30.

Koczersut replaces Shawn Trent, who served as the Mustangs head coach for the past nine years. Trent will remain on as the school’s athletic director. Under the School District of Manatee County’s new policy, athletic directors can no longer be head coaches.

Lakewood finished 5-5 last season. The Mustangs will kickoff the 2014 regular season Aug. 29.
