Music is the main event

East County residents prefer to start each new month with music.

From 6 to 9 p.m. April 3, Lakewood Ranch Main Street will transform into a sea of music, and food, drink and activities tents for the monthly First Friday celebration. A staple of the free event, Music on Main will provide performances by local musicians throughout the night.

The Shaman band will perform pop, rock 'n' roll and disco music for attendees. The Del Couch Foundation oversees the band, which is comprised of local students.

Del Couch was also former "American Idol" contestant Sam Woolf's mentor.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Alzheimer's Association of the Gulf Coast.

Attendees can bring lawn chairs, blankets and leashed pets. Coolers aren't permitted.
