Mote manatees make their Super Bowl picks

For the ninth year, Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium’s resident manatees, Hugh and Buffett, made predictions about the winner of the Super Bowl Feb. 4.

Buffett correctly chose the Denver Broncos, who won 24-10. He is now eight of nine on his picks.

Hugh, who has guessed the winner correctly five out of nine times, chose the Carolina Panthers.

“It's become a tradition within our program,” said aquarium biologist Kat Boerner. “Our old bosses had a rivalry in the Super Bowl eight years ago, and ever since then, we've been doing it.”
