Mote Marine Laboratory’s founding director Dr. Eugenie Clark will have a new edition of her book, “The Lady and the Sharks,” at the “Books with Bites” event, which will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. tomorrow, in the New Pass Room at Mote’s Keating Marine Education Center, 1599 Ken Thompson Parkway.

The book details how Clark founded Mote, which was originally known as Cape Hazel Marine Laboratory, in 1955 in Charlotte County with help from philanthropist Anne Vanderbilt.

The new edition features information from Mote President Dr. Kumar Mehadevan and oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle. The book also features a final chapter about Clark and her life since the book’s 1969 release.

Other authors who will attend the event include Dr. Patricia Gussin, Karen Rose, Don Bruns and Leslie Glass. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Call 923-6399 or e-mail [email protected].
