The “Mighty” Siesta Key Kiwanis Club has named Carolyn Kofler its Kiwanian of the Year “for unwavering support and dedication” to the club and the community.

Kofler served as team leader for Young Children Priority One, coordinated the Siesta Key condo food drive for the benefit of All Faiths Food Bank and organized the collection of diapers and clothing in support of Baby Basics and Mothers Helping Mothers.

She received a plaque during the club’s 11th annual installation banquet, held Sept. 30 at TPC Prestancia.
The Kiwanis Distinguished Service Award went to club director Drew Lowther, who served as membership team lead and club “sheriff.” Lowther also initiated the first “Rock, Paper, Scissors” contest to honor the Pine View Key Club and Sarasota Middle School Builders’ club members for their community service. Both those student organizations are programs of the Siesta Key club.

Joe Sikora received the President’s Appreciation Certificate for serving as vice president, programs team lead and safety officer “while keeping a calm, focused perspective and making things fun as well.”

Outgoing President Gary MacDonald presided over the event. District 18N Lt. Gov. Mary Lynn Desjarlais installed the following officers: President Rose Marie Tamundy-Casanova, President-Elect Joe Sikora, Vice President Carolyn Kofler, Treasurer Leaf Wanless and Secretary Doug Griffin. MacDonald will stay on the board as past president.

Directors this year will be Carmen Ramsey, Matthew Anderson, Cindi Jackson, Fred Scheerle and Ed Zentz.
