Masked man robs Sarasota McDonald's

A masked man burst into the McDonald's at 5554 Fruitville Road after 4 a.m. this morning, took an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint and fled, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office news release.

Witnesses called deputies after a man wearing a blue button-down shirt, jeans and a black mask, and toting a pistol led employees to the back of the restaurant and took the cash. No one was injured.

Witnesses described the man as a white male, who was roughly 50 years old, and 5'6'' tall. Anyone with information about the suspect with information should call Criminal Investigations at 861-4900.
