Manatee County Sheriff's Office pulls deputies from roads

Manatee County shelters go on lockdown.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has pulled its deputies from answering service calls as of 4 p.m. Sunday.

Conditions from Hurricane Irma make it too dangerous for the deputies. Sheriff Rick Wells earlier had said he would pull his deputies when sustained winds reached 40 miles per hour.

Also, all Manatee County shelters went on lockdown as of 4:15 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office earlier had set a 3 p.m. curfew for everyone in the county to be off the roads for 24 hours.
