Manatee County is accepting applications for various boards.

Openings include one post on the Planning Commission, an advisory committee that makes recommendations on land-use issues to the County Commission, and one position on the newly create Healthcare Advisory Board, which will advise the commission on the county’s healthcare system.

The Planning Commission is a seven-member board that meets once monthly. Although no expertise is required, additional consideration will be given to applicants with planning, engineering, environmental science and development experience.

Applications are due Jan. 22 and can be found at mymanatee.org/advisory_boards or by calling Bobbi Roy at 748-4501 Ext. 6878.

To the Healthcare Advisory Board, Manatee commissioners will appoint one resident who is a medically-needy consumer of healthcare, meaning he or she has no health insurance or has health insurance that severely limits access to healthcare.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 11 and can be found at mymanatee.org or by calling Andy Guyre at 749-3030.
