Manatee County School District moves up in state district rankings

by: Amanda Sebastiano Staff Writer

Schools Superintendent Rick Mills announced more positive news for the Manatee County School District today.

The district moved up three places in the state's ranking of school districts, according the Florida Department of Education.

Manatee County's district now ranks 37th among the state's 67 districts, compared to its placement in 40th in the 2012-2013 school year.

Mills sees the recent news as another sign that the school district is making positive strides.

"This is another exciting indication that we are heading in the right direction as a district," Mills said in a press release,  "and that the hard work of our students and teachers is paying off."
