Another Rick Mills-era education official is taking the helm of the Manatee County School District.

Dr. Diana Greene, the former deputy superintendent of instruction who former Superintendent Rick Mills hired two years ago, accepted the interim superintendent position at the school board's May 26 meeting.

Greene will become the full-time superintendent June 1, and is being sworn in at 4:30 p.m. today.

Greene will be the district's leader for at least one year her performance will be assessed after that, school board members said.

The board unanimously approved Greene for the role after hearing repeated positive comments about her during the public comments portion of this week's school board meeting.

"I have nothing but positive emotions right now," Greene said to the board and her colleague and previous interim Superintendent Don Hall.

Hall, who was sworn in to the interim superintendent role May 13, will reassume his previous position as deputy superintendent of operations.

"I'm happy to take back my previous position, and I support Diana 100%," Hall said.
