Manatee County Government has closed its offices immediately in preparation for inclement weather and due to flooding in the area. It will reopen for business Friday.

The land-use meeting slated for 9 a.m. Sept. 1 at the county administration building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, has been cancelled and will be rescheduled and re-advertised. County commissioners were set to vote on a proposed helistop at The Concession Golf Club, among other items.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we’re sending employees home and asking them to take necessary precautions for their families,” County Administrator Ed Hunzeker said in a statement.

Manatee County Emergency Operations Center, 2101 47th Terrace E., Bradenton, will begin a Level 2 partial activation tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

Residents should not call 911 for weather information. The county Citizens Information Center line at 748-4501 has been activated until 10 p.m. tonight.
