Manatee County is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Planning Commission, a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use items.

The Planning Commission is composed of seven members who are appointed by the County Commission.

The group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in the first floor chambers of the Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W.

Planning Commission members are given a $60 stipend per meeting.

Applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County. No particular expertise is required, but people with experience in planning, engineering, science and the development industry will be given special consideration.

No member of the Planning Commission may be employed by the county.

No member may be a member of another land-development related advisory board serving unincorporated Manatee County.

Applications are due March 15 and can be found online.
