Manatee County commissioners today voted 6-0 to extend County Administrator Ed Hunzeker's contract for one year.
Commissioner Vanessa Baugh was absent.
Hunzeker's contract was to expire Jan. 29, 2018, at which time Hunzeker planned to retire.
The commission in December 2016 voted 4-3 to launch a search for a new county administrator and had whittled a list of finalists to six in August.
