The East County Observer caught up with some of Main Street Travel’s travel agents to find out their most memorable summer vacations. Here’s what they had to say.

Vicki Krone

What was your best summer vacation and why?

“For my 50th birthday I went up to Svalbard to look for polar bears. It was definitely my favorite vacation. It was so cool. We had bacon on board and the polar bears smelt it and came so close to us.”

Kim Taylor

What was your best summer vacation and why?

“The Country Music Festival in Nashville. I’d never been, so I didn’t know what to expect. But now I want to move there. We got to see anybody who is anybody in the country music profession. It was my birthday too.”

Holly Dayton

What was your best summer vacation and why?

“We used to go to the Outerbanks and rent a house on the beach. All of the grandmas and grandkids were there and it was just a great time. We got to see family we hadn’t seen in a long time and it was just a great time just being around family.”

Kay Bronston

What was your best summer vacation and why?

“We had a summer place in the Adirondacks, and we basically used to stay for the summer. It was hard work really because it was on an island in the lake, so we had to do everything by boat. I loved it because the in the morning the fog came up off the water; and in the fall the leaves would start to change and you need it was time to leave. It was beautiful.”

Karen MacDonald

What was your best summer vacation and why?

“Costa Rica. It was absolutely amazing. The people were phenomenal. The country was beautiful, and the wildlife was unbelievable. We went white water rafting, down zip lines and fed crocodiles. It was quite a trip because it was so different.”
