MAN ON THE STREET: Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend is coming up next week, and everybody seems excited about their plans for the three-day weekend. The Observer caught up with some East County residents and asked them about their plans for the holiday.

What are you doing over Memorial Day weekend?

“Memorial Day weekend is my birthday, and I love to plant flowers every year on my birthday.”

Nick Drizos
“We’re going to family day at the Longboat Key Club.”

Patti Maraia
“It’s our anniversary on the 28th, and it will have been 21 years, so we’ll probably go out and celebrate. We picked that weekend because we’ll always get a three-day weekend out of it!”

Sue Marillier
“I’ll probably just spend the whole weekend on the beach.”

George Marinoff
“My nephew who lives in Maine enlisted in the Marine Corp a year ago and just got orders to deploy to Afghanistan in a month. His mom is throwing a send-off party, so my wife and I are heading up there.”
