Man on the Street: Kentucky Derby

Do you have any plans to celebrate the Kentucky Derby this weekend?

“We don’t have plans this year, but we actually went to the Kentucky Derby once. We drank mint juleps and had an absolute blast. It was a huge social event. The only bad part was the traffic leaving the race afterwards.”

“I’m not sure if there are any Derby parties going on or anything. I think I might drink a mint julep or wear a big hat. Or both!”

“I’m from Louisville, so I grew up right there in the shadow of Churchill Downs. When I was young we would sneak through the fence and watch the races.”

“We’ll probably watch the race. It’s not one of our favorite sports to watch, although we do love riding horses.”

“I’m from Michigan, so the Kentucky Derby isn’t a big event where I’m from. It’s a huge party weekend down here in Florida though. It’s definitely a big Southern thing.”
