Man robs hotel clerk at gunpoint

A Marriott Residence Inn clerk was injured while trying to wrestle a firearm out of the hands of a robbery suspect at roughly 1 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, according to a news release.

Sarasota Police are seeking a hispanic suspect with a slim build who was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black shorts and black shoes for the robbery, which occured on the 1000 block of University Parkway. The suspect struck the clerk after she refused to give the man money, but handed over an undisclosed amount of cash after being injured.

Anyone with information about the suspect or incident should contact the Sarasota Police Department at 316-1199 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 366-TIPS (8477).
