Longboat Key Police Chief Al Hogle told the Longboat Observer that an unidentified Longboat Key man was found lying in Sarasota Bay this morning by a fisherman, just south of the island’s two mobile home park communities in the middle of the island.

“This man was ill and may or may not have had some sort of a medical condition,” said Hogle, who explained the man was pulled from the water and started breathing again on his own.

“The case is still under investigation, and the man has been taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for observation,” Hogle said.

Hogle said the man’s identity and the police report would not be released until police complete their investigation.
