Longboat Key’s six-day early voting period ends tomorrow for the town’s March 10 general municipal election.

Early voting began Monday and continues from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Saturday, at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road. Residents of both Manatee and Sarasota counties can vote early at Town Hall.

On election day, voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Manatee County voters must cast ballots at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive, and Sarasota County voters must vote at Town Hall.

During the first four days of the early voting period, 446 voters cast ballot. Last year’s seven-day early voting period drew 1,121 voters.

This year’s ballot features two contested races for Longboat Key Town Commission.

Jack Daly and Larry Grossman are vying for the District 4 seat, and Gene Jaleski is challenging incumbent Phill Younger for one of two at-large seats on the commission. All town voters can cast ballots in all commission races, regardless of the geographic district in which they reside.
