Longboat expects gloomy weather today

Longboat Key’s weather outlook is wet, windy and cloudy for the entire day, with a 60% chance of rain expected the day and evening hours.

An upper-level low that developed earlier in the week has swung from the northwestern Gulf of Mexico eastward toward the north-central Gulf, bringing higher-than-normal humidity and tropical moisture to the area.

Winds will be coming from the south today at 16 mph, and the area could receive gusts up to 26 mph.

A normal weather pattern returns tomorrow, with a high of 89 degrees and a 30% rain chance expected for the island.
