Frank O’Brien was installed as president of the Longbeach Village Association May 5, at a meeting held at the home of past President Michael Drake. Instead of a gavel, Drake presented O’Brien with a hand-carved cedar dagger, a symbol of the Spanish invasion of the Key. Other officers are Verna Ritter, vice president; Carol Weiss, secretary; Virginia Luke, secretary; and board members Tom Arthur and Phoebe Shaw.

Also at the meeting, a $500 check was presented to Anthony Cucci, of the Chiles Group, to assist with the public fireworks presentation July 2. The next association meeting will be held in October.
