Championship Landscape Maintenance Professionals, the firm recently picked to oversee Siesta Key Village upkeep, promptly delivered a light pole to architect Mark Smith’s office after an intoxicated driver struck it Sept. 18, Smith said during a Siesta Key Village Association meeting this morning.

Smith, who directs the Siesta Key Village Maintenance Corp., told SKVA members that Championship staff rescued the light pole from would-be scrappers, and saved a Village banner and flagpole that were attached to it.

The service is part of a $97,000 annual contract with Sarasota County, which requires the firm to beautify the Village at a “resort-style” level, and Smith said there have been no complaints about Championship’s performance, and it has placed the order for a new pole. The company also recently replaced to flood lights near the Village gazebo.
