+ Siesta Beach signs needs improvement
Dear Editor:

Imagine our delight when, just a few weeks after moving to Sarasota, Dr. Beach confirmed a major reason for our relocation: Siesta Key Beach is No. 1! Bravo that the city was quick to jump on this accolade and put up signs proclaiming this distinction. But a lot of people have complained about the less-than-stellar appearance of the signage. And for good reason. In an unremarkable brown color, they’re beyond boring — let alone nearly invisible. I suggest that the county consider a new design based on the colorful signage at the main public beach, which would create a more upbeat, colorful, and unified experience. Viva Siesta Beach!

+ Traffic Advisory Board commended for support
Dear Editor:

I commend the Traffic Advisory Council members for supporting Walter Olson’s proposals elicited on behalf of the Siesta Key Condominium Association. There is no doubt in my mind that the TAC supports traffic safety for the world-famous Siesta Key Beach, which attracts more than 1 million people yearly. Much more needs to be done to enforce the pedestrian and motorist safety. We expect the county commissioners to legislate on safety for our residents and visitors.
