Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy students have earned bragging rights on a national scale.

Their monthlong program of patient education earned one of the top awards in the nationwide Medication Adherence Challenge, hosted by the National Consumers League, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

The three organizations selected LECOM students as awardees of the first-ever "Script Your Future" competition after students, in October, provided more than 2,000 patient informational sessions to children, adolescents, adults and seniors and also developed a Facebook page for the campaign, among other accomplishments for the contest.

Students also participated in health fairs at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, New College of Sarasota and the Senior Friendship Center.
