LBK police department offers medication disposal

Residents and visitors can now drop off outdated or unwanted prescription medication at the Longboat Key Police Department, 5460 Gulf of Mexico Drive, for destruction. The service is available 24 hours a day, every day.

To dispose of pills, empty containers and place prescription and nonprescription pills and gel gaps into a sealed or tied bag, then place the bag into the bin. Place prescription and nonprescription liquids and inhalers into a bag and place them into the bin.

The department does not accept drugs from businesses; the service is for individual households only. The department also does not accept sharps, syringes, needles or EpiPens.
