On Feb. 19, Harold Ronson and Milton Harr enjoyed lunch at the Lazy Lobster. The men were U.S. marines, who, exactly 71 years ago on that day, landed on Iwo Jima, launching “Operation Detachment.” The ensuing five-week battle was one of the fiercest and bloodiest of the War in the Pacific during World War II.
General Manager Erick Flanagan led a toast with the entire dining room joining in and giving an emotional standing ovation.

“Harold and Milton had a great time,” Flanagan said. “Many guests went over, shook their hands and conversed with them. It was very touching. The staff all had chills.”
