Are you prepared to weather a storm at home?

With hurricane season continuing through September, the Lakewood Ranch Community Emergency Response Team wants to ensure you have the necessary tools to handle sheltering at home during a major storm.

At the group's July membership meeting at 7 p.m. July 20, the local team of volunteers will have on display items residents should have in their homes if they aren't going to evacuate and plan to ride out a storm in their East County home.

Items showcased at Town Hall tonight will aid homeowners in dealing with a range of situations, such as loss of electricity and air conditioning, a contaminated water supple and disrupted telephone, cable and internet service.

CERT members will also share steps they have taken to help hurricane proof their homes.

Ranch residents are invited to attend the free event. But, space is limited.
