Lakewood, Braden River and ODA advance to regional finals

The Lakewood Ranch and Braden River High boys tennis teams and the Lakewood Ranch and Out-of-Door Academy girls tennis teams were all victorious in their regional semifinal matches April 20.

The Mustangs defeated Lakeland George Jenkins 4-1 in a Class 3A-Region 6 semifinal. Cooper Maxwell (No. 1), Arsav Mohanty (No. 2), Arnav Mohanty (No. 3) and Drew Christianson (No. 5) all earned singles victories for Lakewood.

Braden River also cruised in the Class 3A-Region 6 semifinals, defeating District 9 winner Winter Haven 5-2. Jimmy Parsons (No. 1), Will Jay (No. 2) and Matt Boles (No. 5) each earned singles victories for the Pirates. Braden River then swept the doubles matches with the teams of Parsons and Anthony Simakov (No. 1) and Jay and Tarik Jenkins (No. 2) both coming out victorious.

The Lady Mustangs also powered past Winter Haven, defeating the Blue Devils 6-1. Katherine Pyne, Alyssa Corcoran, Sammi Aiezza and Linsey Rechigal each one singles victories for Lakewood. The girls then teamed up to win both doubles matches.

Meanwhile, in Class 1A, the Lady Thunder defeated St. Petersburg Northside 5-2. Caroline Dailey (No. 1), Jinny Rostarchuk (No. 2), Michelle Ramos (No. 3) and Cheyenne Kerekes (No. 4) each captured singles victories for ODA. Dailey and Ramos then teamed up in No. 1 doubles to clinch the match for the Lady Thunder.

Lakewood, Braden River and ODA all returned to action today in the regional finals. The Mustangs and Pirates will face each other at 3 p.m. at Lakewood Ranch. The Lady Mustangs will travel to Venice while the Lady Thunder will host St. Petersburg Catholic at 3 p.m.
