Lady Pirates go 1-1 in Miss Sarasota Tournament

Senior Trisha Zuknik struck out four and walked on in three innings of work while freshman Courtney Mirabella struck out four and walked two as the Braden River High softball team shutout Riverview 7-0 Feb. 3.

Freshman Jessica Cadorett went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and three RBIs while senior Lauren Powell went 3-for-4 with a double. Senior Jessica Gore went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI; freshman Ashley Allard went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles, a walk and an RBI; and freshman Hannah Loyer went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

On Feb. 4, Zuknick pitched two innings, allowing a run, a double and a pair of singles while striking out three and walking one, as the Lady Pirates fell to Sarasota 1-0.

Mirabella pitched three innings, allowing a single while striking out four and walking one. Loyer pitched the final inning for Braden River, allowing a double and a pair of singles while striking out two.

Loyer went 1-2 with a double and Powell went 1-for-3 with a single.

The Lady Pirates will return to action tonight versus Venice.
