Key population grows by 1.04%

Longboat Key’s population grew by 1.04% between 2011 and 2012, according to the Annual Estimates of the Resident Population data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Census Bureau estimated the Key’s residential population at 6,993 as of July 1, 2012, compared to 6,921 as of July 1, 2011.

The 2010 U.S. Census showed that Longboat Key experienced a 9.4% drop in population in the 2000s, falling from 7,603 permanent residents April 1, 2010, compared with 7,603 April 1, 2000.
