Katy Rose Olive Oils to close in Lakewood Ranch

Donald and Gale Whitson-Schmidt have announced they will be closing their business, Katy Rose Olive Oils at 8111 Lakewood Main Street.

The couple plans on retirement.

"It was a tough decision because we really enjoyed the store," Donald Whitson-Schmidt said of the business they ran for seven years. "Our core business was local and we made a lot of friends. It was tough closing it."

Katy Rose Olive Oils will host a Farewell Wine Tasting from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 23. Donald Whitson-Schmidt said "The wine tasting will be a celebration of our valued customers and friends, with wine, special food and great discounts."

Donald Whitson-Schmidt said the store will close a short time after the Farewell Wine Tasting.
